The Power of Gratitude

Do you want to achieve more in life? Do you want to be happier and live more fulfilling? The power of gratitude can help you accomplish that. Having an attitude of gratitude can change your life. Today you can start living a more fulfilled and rewarding life.

Gratitude is defined as the quality or feeling of appreciation or thanks. Learning how to be graceful in tough times can be challenging however, having an attitude of gratitude can be key ingredient to turn your life around. You may ask how can you be thankful in the mist of chaos? You are not thankful for the circumstances you have to redirect you energy and focus on something you are graceful for. One man used the power of gratitude to change the world.

He born into slavery, dirt poor and as an infant his mother disappeared kidnapped by slave thieves. He became both free and orphaned at about the same time. He was raised by slave owners Moses and Susan Carver. Because he was often sick he was not able to do hard labor but because of his skin color he was not allow to go to school. His hungry for knowledge at an early age, he begins to move in the Midwest in search for an education. He supported himself by doing odd jobs as a cook and doing laundry. He saved his money and enrolled at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, in 1890, a teacher convinced him to transfer to Iowa State College to study agriculture after he finish at Simpson. He accepted an offer from Booker T. Washington to head the agricultural department at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He began to do extend research and renovating the use of peanuts, soybeans, cow peas, sweet potatoes.  It was reported that the only thing he would take in the lab with him was his bible and a thankful heart. His attitude of gratitude allowed him to discover the multiple uses of agricultural crops. You may know him by the name of George Washington Carver. He was a pioneer and innovator that knew the power of gratitude.

The power of gratitude helps you:

1.     Resist negative thoughts – When negative thoughts try to enter into your mind you find something you are thankful it could be a scripture, a song, a poem, a flower.  Refocuses your mind to something you are thankful for.

2.     Gratitude improves problem solving skills. As you focus your mind allows you to think about the solution not the problem.

3.     It activates the law of attraction. What you focus on you will attract. Positive thoughts will attract positive things

4.     It reduces stress. More positive thought reduce tension and stress Negative thoughts creates negative emotion which cause stress.
